RS Kart

It will be a full weekend of racing for the RS Kart South Africa team as they take on the penultimate round of the Northern Regions Rotax Max championship on Saturday and the coveted Africa Open on Sunday. Both events will be held at the Formula K circuit in Benoni.

The team’s strong Bambino line-up will be led by Mattao Mason. Mattao is currently first in the regional championship standings and will be hoping to open up his four point lead.

Maddox is in seventh place in the championship, but the small point’s deficit means that a good showing this weekend could elevate him into the top five. Maddox continues to gain confidence and may just catch a few competitors off guard.

Evan Venter is in ninth in the points table, which is impressive considering he missed the first round of the championship.

Capetonian, Kai van Rensburg, will make his debut with the team this weekend. Kai is a tough competitor and is currently tied in first place in the Western Cape Regional Championship.

The calibre of the team’s Bambino drivers, leaves hope for the future of the sport in South Africa.

The winner of the Africa Open in the Bambino class will win airfare to go watch the World Final in Portugal.

Keagan Martin returns for his second race in RS Kart colours. He will be competing in Micro Max and the promising youngster is definitely one to watch this weekend. Although not in the championship race this year, the weekend will serve as good groundwork for the 2021 season. In terms of the Africa Open, the top three drivers from the final heat will all earn entries to compete in the Rotax World Final.

Carlo Olivier will also get a chance to race this weekend. He will be competing in the FKR Shifter class, which serves as an invitational race on Saturday. After an exceptionally long break between events, Carlo will be relishing the opportunity to be on track again.

In compliance with Covid-19 regulations, spectators will unfortunately not be allowed.
