The third and final round of the South African Rotax Max challenge took place at Killarney on Saturday the 17th of October 2020 and RS Kart were well represented by Mattao and Maddox Mason.

Although Mattao went into the round tied for first place in the Bambino championship, it was evident from early on that he was going to have his work cut out for him in Cape Town. Mattao qualified in eighth position with Maddox 11th.

In an exceptionally talented and competitive field, Mattao finished the first heat in seventh place, with Maddox crossing the line in ninth.

Both brothers put in solid performances in heat two, claiming seventh and ninth position respectively.

Mattao had a great penultimate race, finishing 5th. Unfortunately, Maddox didn’t have things his own way and was classified down in 11th place.

It was another seventh place finish for Mattao in the final heat. Maddox fought his way from the back of the field to finish tenth.

Mattao ended the weekend fifth in the overall standings, with Maddox 11th.

Whilst it wasn’t the perfect end to the season, both Mattao and Maddox can be pleased of their achievements this year. RS Kart are proud to be represented by these up and coming future champions.

Mattao walked away from Killarney with a new lap record.
